Birdy & Bee Bee

To start the year, I was commissioned by a friend to illustrate her parents’  pets, as a gift to them.

Birdy is a Ruby King Charles Cavalier and Bee Bee,  a British Short Hair. The unlikely duo are the best of buddies and I was super excited to illustrate them. I used gouache, a medium I like more after each use, for the final piece.

Here’s how it turned out.

Griffith University Bachelor of Animation 25th Anniversary and Art for Spine Charity Auction

I’ve been such a neglectful blog parent. I’m sorry but I am here now.

I have been super busy the last couple of months working on many exciting projects which I can’t wait to share with you. But the thing is I can’t share them yet. (But I will as soon as I’m able!)

So for now, I will post a few things from the end of 2012.

Griffith University celebrated 25 years of their Bachelor of Animation! To celebrate this milestone, the lovely staff at GFS and many dedicated students (past and present) organised a week of special screenings, guest speakers and an exhibition. The exhibition showcased student works created as a part of the course, alongside work that’s been created by them now, post-graduation.  I went back up to Brisbane for this event and it was lovely to catch up with everyone and to meet people from different generations of the course. It was amazing to see so much talent and diversity displayed in the exhibition and to hear about the different journeys people have taken since their time there.

Here’s an interview I did for the event ->

and my contribution to the Exhibition. A celebratory piece with Griffith colours red and white 🙂

One of my faves. Hand painted cel by Xin Li

I’d also like to share this watercolour piece, created as a donation  for a wonderful organisation called Art for Spine. I found out about them through my brother, who was working with them at the time. They are an organisation focused on raising funds to provide resources and new experiences for people with spinal cord injuries. Their Annual Art Auction is their main fundraising event, where artists from different disciplines donate artwork. The 2012 Auction raised close to $60000! Such an amazing effort.  I’m happy that I was able to participate and help out in this little way 🙂

Exciting news coming soon, so stay tuned!

Making Of: Paper Rabbits Logo Cookies

I’ve had a few people ask if the Logo cookies were real. They were very real and were consumed by some fellow animators afterwards. Here is proof: Making of the Paper Rabbits logo cookies. Enjoy!

…. and tadaaaaa!

Have a great weekend everyone 🙂
